British Friendly - Our History

The British Friendly Society was set up in 1902. For one old penny a day, members were guaranteed a weekly income of 10 shillings if illness stopped them earning. We've come a long way since then, and total income for the British Friendly Society has reached around £8.5 million a year with over £100 million of funds currently being managed for our members, so you can be sure you will be looked after.

A Society By the Members for the Members

The Society is run by the members for the members. We work hard to look after the individuals and to make sure we run the business in a commercially progressive way. We are always delighted to welcome new members to the Society this ensures our future growth is steady. Because we are a Friendly Society, we pay no profits to shareholders. All surpluses are returned to our members. We take great care of our membership and manage their funds wisely.
